Аннотация
In relativistic electron beam microwave generators, the electrons that have passed through the slow wave structure are dumped onto a collector, and part of their energy is converted into X-rays. To protect personnel from ionizing radiation, the microwave sources driven by high current and high repetition rate electron beams are surrounded with a thick Pb shielding to attenuate X-rays. Special channels can be used for extracting the radiation. Using the Monte Carlo method, the parameters of radiation shielding apparatus can be calculated and optimized. A special software package called RADSHIEL can be used to simulate the transfer of electrons and photons. Variance reduction techniques improve the program's efficiency.
