Unstable state of the α-Ti crystal lattice in the surface layers of titanium alloys samples treated by a low-energy high-current pulsed electron beam

Аннотация

The elastic residual tensile macrostressess, the crystal lattice parameters and the mean square displacements of atoms of the α-Ti phase, the phase and elemental composition and microstructure of the surface layers of commercial titanium and Ti-6Al-4V alloy samples, subjected to processing by low energy high current pulsed electron beam were investigated by X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning and transmission diffraction electron microscopy. It was found that an unstable state of the crystal lattice of the α-Ti phase occurs at the increasing of the carbon and oxygen atoms concentration in the samples surface layers.
