N2 - As the drivers of our societal development, universities are currently undergoing permanent changes. University-industry cooperation is seen as an assessment tool to measure efficiency of the university performance. Given the entrepreneurial character of the modern universities in transformation, this article investigates university-industry interaction and draws on systemic model for university-industry indicators assessment on the regional level in Russia. By analyzing recent public initiatives to spur research in universities and mechanisms for university-industry cooperation, authors use quantitative approach to assess university-industry cooperation for 6 public universities in the region of Tomsk, Russia. The limitations of quantitative assessment are argued, since the results of the study demonstrate only several dimensions of university-industry interaction. For multi-faceted analysis of universityindustry interaction in-depth qualitative expert study is required.
