Thermal effect of low-energy high-current pulsed electron beam on titanium alloy structure

Аннотация

This work is the theoretical and experimental investigations of the thermal effect of low-energy high-current pulsed electron beam irradiation on the microstructure of technical-grade titanium alloy (VT1-0 in the Russian classification). Basic parameters of the thermal effect such as spatio-temporal temperature fields, thicknesses of melted and evaporated layers, cooling rates have been calculated with the numerical model of the heat erosion. Experimental part includes the optical and atomic-force microscope investigations of the microstructure of the irradiated surface of VT1-0 specimens. A good qualitative agreement between the calculated data on the thermal effect parameters and experimental facts about the thickness and structure of the modified layer has been shown.
