Аннотация

A problem of formation of the surface oxide structures and their role in the processes of friction and wear of tool steels is considered. The properties of polyoxide films on surface of R6M5 tool steel are investigated depending on heating temperature for quenching and tempering number as well as on laser processing. It is shown that the heat treatment and laser processing change the steel tool surface structure and influence directly the oxidation kinetics that dictates the parameters of forbidden zone width of the oxide films. Wear resistance of steel increases with the rise of the forbidden zone width.
