The basic relationships, governing the variation of the structure, mechanical, and friction properties of R6M5, U-10, and 6Kh4M2FS steels on their exposure to continuous (B+ and N+) and pulsed (Mo+) ion beams are studied. An evaluation of pressures, resulting from the transmission of the acoustic waves, generated by ion implantation, is conducted. Possible mechanisms of strengthening are discussed.
