Scintigraphic methods for examining pulmonary circulation hemodynamics in children with congenital heart defects

New techniques for radionuclide methods used in detecting disorders of the pulmonary microcirculation hemodynamics in children with congenital heart white-type defects are elaborated. In total 40 children were examined. Eighteen patients were subjected to radionuclide cardiopulmonography and twenty two patients to pulmonary perfusion scintigraphy. In patients with the normal pulmonary artery pressure the venous-to-arterial link ratio in radionuclide cardiopulmonography did not exceed 1.2. This indicator goes down to 0.5 and lower as the pulmonary pressure becomes higher. Pulmonoscintigraphic data showed the lung perfusion to get redistributed towards the upper parts as the pulmonary hypertension rises so that the U/L factor increases from 0.8 to 1.08. The results obtained provide evidence for high informative value of the methods applied for ascertaining the degree of pulmonary hypertension and disorders of pulmonary microcirculation in patients with congenital heart white-type defects.
