Аннотация

Method of numerical solution of the complete system of Maxwell equations is used to investigate scattering of a nanosecond electromagnetic pulse on a trihedral corner reflector (three-dimensional scattering problem). Waveforms of reflected signals are calculated for different ratios of the spatial pulse length to the reflector size which demonstrate the existence of a precursor to the main pulse. It is demonstrated that the effective scattering cross section of the corner reflector whose size is of the order of the spatial electromagnetic pulse length is approximately the same as that for scattering of long (monochromatic radiation) pulses.
