Role of superplasticity in formation of pearlite steel joints during welding

At the present, high-speed steel is one of the main tool materials. The cutting tools are manufactured using the various technologies. Popular method is friction welding of the high-speed steel and St45 carbon steel or 40Kh steel. Formation of traditional defects can be eliminated in this case. The welding is performed near temperatures of phase transformation. Investigations of welding the steels of St45, ShKh15, and R6M5 grades have been performed. Results of the investigations have made it possible to develop algorithm of welding the steels and forging the welded joints. Welding is improved due to substructural and structural superplasticity.
