Аннотация

Thermal nondestructive testing methods developed in the former Soviet Union (now the Commonwealth of Independent States) are reviewed, along with several applications dealing with high technology materials and structures commonly used in the aeroscope industry. The article highlights the strengths and the original features of these studies, and points out some of their weaknesses as well. The author aims to promote a better understanding of the subject, and to show areas in which cooperation could be envisaged in the future.
