Pulsed phase thermography and fourier-analysis thermal tomography

We consider the characteristic features of Fourier analysis of thermal processes that occur during dynamic thermal examination, using pulsed and modulated thermal excitation. The results of one-dimensional and two-dimensional analysis are compared. Tests of carbon-fiber-reinforced composites showed that a thermal wave penetrates 40 - 70% deeper into the product than the absolute value of its amplitude. Theoretical calibration curves of the phase shift versus the depth of defects in carbon-fiber-reinforced products were applied to the experimental data to synthesize phase thermal tomograms.
