    A high-current nanosecond 400-keV electron accelerator is described having a beam current of up to 8 kA and a pulse length of 25 nsec. A ribbon beam having the dimensions of 1000 multiplied by 100 mm is formed. The shaping line of the accelerator is charged from a pulse transformer. The use of a hydrogen thyratron in the primary loop of the transformer along with scavenging of the high-voltage spark gap ensures an accelerator pulsing frequency of up to 100 Hz.
