Propagation of solitary compression waves in heterogeneous materials under the high-speed loading

    Аннотация

    Specific features of transmission of soliton-shaped waves, caused by high-speed compression, through regions with reduced atomic density are studied on the basis of the method of molecular dynamics. The wave shape is shown to be mainly governed by the structure of the material region where the waves propagate. An amplitude decrease of a solitary wave is found to be governed by defects concentration.
