Аннотация

An experimental study of microsecond plasma opening switch (POS) operation with four gas-puff plasma guns installed at the 1 TW GI-4 generator were performed. The POS switching characteristics deteriorated for heavier gases. Stored current amplitude reached 1-1.2 MA and voltage was ≤2 MV during switching on an inductive load of 200 nH with hydrogen puff plasma and 400 kV of output Marx voltage. The POS translation length based on activation measurement along the axis was 60 cm for 30 kA/cm of cathode linear density. The total number of high energy proton fraction in the POS reached approximately 0.5 MA with a characteristic double hump ion flow density distribution and a main maximum of 400 A/cm2 at 30 cm from the gas-puff plasma guns.
