On the mechanisms of mesolevel fragmentation in a plastically deformed surface-hardened chromium steel

Аннотация

A study into the mechanisms of mesolevel fragmentation in a plastically deformed surface-hardened chromium steel is summarized. A hierarchy of sublevels associated with the formation of variously scaled fragments and deformation domains is shown to exist within the mesolevel. The self-organization of the deformation mechanisms in the hierarchy of mesoscopic sublevels is found to obey the law of similitude.
