Structure of austenite Cr-Ni steel in the zone of the cracks growing under fatigue tests has been investigated by TEM. Significant changes in the steel defect substructure as well as carbide phase morphology after the tests were to be found. A possible reason for the steel fatigue fracture can be lack of correspondence between a matrix and carbide particles deformations leading to microcracks formation near the phase boundaries.
