Аннотация

Based on experimental study, a qualitive model was suggested for the electron pinch formation in high-power rod-pinch diodes. In this model, it was assumed that the self-magnetic field slows the anode plasma expansion during the quasi-steady-state of the pinch. The present paper reports on a model of the quasi-steady-state of the pinch where there is no need to slow the plasma. This model has shown that the quasi-steady-state of the pinch is established due to a drastic change in the condition of the magnetic insulation of the gap at the time the pinch is formed. The pinch lifetime for rod-pinch diodes has been calculated under the assumption that plasmas formed on the electrode surfaces expand at a constant velocity. Estimations made within the framework of the given model agree with results of the KARAT/MC code simulation and with experimental data.
