The mechanism of steel destruction under the effect of a high-temperature supersonic heterogeneous jet with a high mass concentration of aluminum and iron particles is studied experimentally. The data obtained lead to a conclusion that the entrainment of the steel mass observed in the modes considered is not associated with the melting of metal and subsequent mechanical entrainment or evaporation of the melt. The analysis and the generalization of the experimental and theoretical results are used to construct a physical model of high-temperature destruction of metals under the effect of a supersonic heterogeneous jet with a high particle concentration - the model of thermomechanical destruction of metals.
