Аннотация

The initiation and development of discharges in purified water and hexane were studied for pulse rise times of Τ_r ≈ 2-3 nsec and pulse lengths of Τ_p≈10-50 nsec by an oscilloscopic method and with an electron-optical image converter. The results are compared with data on the nanosecond breakdown of gases. A physical interpretation is offered for the observed behavior.
