Possibility of secondary pollution of drinking water with toxic metals due to the destruction of complex compounds with humic substances has been studied. Copper, lead. cadmium (15-100%) have been isolated from these complexes on the model solutions under the conditions imitating the stage of water disinfection. The growing rate of zinc complexes decay in the acid medium (pH1), simulating water consumption in the human food chain as well as multiple increase of metal noncomplexation degree in such media are found. The necessity of determining the total content of heavy metals in potable water is substantiated.
