Аннотация

Electric arc suppression in an organic dielectric under conditions of increasing pressure created in a closed volume is accompanied by an increase in voltages on it. Together with the general tendency toward increase, we observe sharp fluctuations in voltage around a certain average value. In experiments with dielectrics of very high viscosity, such as vaseline at T = 35 C, paraffin at T = 20 C, after disassembly of the arc suppression chamber the formed arc cavity is not disrupted and is accessible to the observer. The cavity represents a sphere, on the boundary of which soot with a thickness of several millimeters is concentrated. The experiments showed that voltage fluctuations during arc suppression in an organic dielectric are associated with shunting of the gaseous conducting medium of the arc cavity with a carbon layer concentrated on its surface.
