High-temperature failure of rubberlike heat-shielding materials under conditions of high pressure

Results are given of experimental studies into basic regularities of high-temperature failure of a rubberlike heat-shielding material at high pressure. Comparison is made of the experimental and theoretical results for the model of thermochemical destruction of heat-shielding material, leading to the conclusion that, under conditions of high pressure, the carryover of mass of heat-shielding material occurs mainly as a result of thermomechanical destruction under the effect of tangential friction stresses of gas flow flowing in parallel with the surface being heated. A physical model is proposed of the process of high-temperature failure of heat-shielding material under conditions of high pressures.
