Gold behavior is examined in the formation processes of intrusive contact-metasomatic and hydrothermal ore associations of a typical contact-gold ore deposit in the Sayan-Altai folded region. It is shown that crystallization of the magmatic melt of granitoid rocks does not essentially result in gold accumulation although a tendency toward an increased content of this metal is noted in basic rocks and mafic minerals. Partial accumulation of chalcophyles and gold during contact metamorphism has been established. High metal concentration is observed only for the middle-low-temperature hydrothermal stage (320-130 degree C) of general post-magmatic mineral formation.
