Formation and properties of micro-arc silicate biocoatings on bioresorbable alloy Mg0.8Ca

Аннотация

The purpose of this study was to form the silicate biocoatings on Mg0.8Ca alloy by the micro-arc oxidation method and to study their structure, elemental and phase composition. With increase in the applied voltage from 350 to 500 V the biocoating thickness grew from 40 to 150 μm. Elongated crystals, which typical for wollastonite, were observed on the coating surface. EDX analysis revealed that the calcium and silicon are localized in the areas with elongated crystals. The wollastonite and akermanite crystalline phases were found in the coatings by XRD studies. Akermanite was formed because of wollastonite interaction with a magnesium substrate during the MAO process. When an applied voltage increased, an amount of akermanite reduced.
