Аннотация

Based on the systematic approach we validate the concept of physical mesomechanics which considers the surface layer in a deformed solid as an independent subsystem. With strain degree growth autonomous processes develop in the layer, which have a crucial effect on the stage-by-stage character of plastic flow localization and fracture of a specimen as a whole. In the mesomechanics of the surface layer the key role belongs to its 'effective' thickness and interface with the crystal bulk. The interface is characterized by a chessboard-like distribution of the stress-strain state.
