Results are presented for the study of relationship between dynamic and static mechanical stresses in ion crystals and energy densities of high-current electron beams (HCEB) at room temperature. It is established that with pulses of ≈ 25 ns plastic deformation of the electron deceleration zone occurs during exposure of monocrystals KCl to a beam. Comparison between calculated and experimental relationships between acoustic impulse amplitude and energy density detected an area with superlinear growth of the amplitude, over the energy density range of 0.4-0.6 J/cm2. It may be explained by development of electric discharge processes.
