    The current distribution in a single plasma opening switch (POS) switching the energy from all the 8 modules of GIT8 into an inductive load was investigated. The plasma was injected into a coaxial region in axial direction toward the generator, away from the load. The switch was able to conduct as much as 5 MA current at 60 kV Marx charging voltage without charging resistors. During conduction, the current channel moved along the POS prefill region toward the plasma injection plane. The switch opening occurred when the channel reached the vicinity of the plasma injection plane. Reclosure was observed in the vicinity of the cathode sphere to have a probability dependent on the amount of plasma injected before the start of the Marxes.
