Аннотация

In this paper, we shall discuss the possibility of CO2 removal indirectly through the lower/middle stratosphere via reactions with cosmic rays. We postulate this possibility based on a comparative analysis of the content of the cosmic ray-generated isotope 10Be in ice core samples from Greenland and Antarctica and of CO2 (a) in the air inclusions of an ice core from the Vostok station in Antarctica. The correlation coefficients between the 10Be and CO2 (a) concentrations calculated from the available experimental data for various times over the last climatic cycle suggest a significant negative correlation between the variation of the most important greenhouse gas, CO2 (a), and the indicator of cosmic-ray intensity, 10Be. -from Journal translation
