With the aim of designing corundum ceramic material with sintering temperature not exceeding 1400-1450° C modifying additives such as TiO2, MnO2 and talc were used. TiO2 and MnO2 additives were found to decrease essentially sintering temperature due to formation of interstitial solid solutions whereas heat treated tale decelerated corundum grain growth and promoted glassy phase formation between corundum grains. Sintering of semi-products of new ceramics was carried out in electric continuous furnace without protective atmosphere. New material was used for components of high temperature resistors and showed good results under operational conditions.
