Computer Simulation of Segregation, Plastic Deformation, and Defects Formation during Synthesis of Composite Materials

    Аннотация

    A heterophase (composite) system consisting of a solidifying binary (Al-Cu) melt and filaments of a reinforcing phase (SiC) is considered. A computer model of the composite synthesis that takes into account heat and mass transfer in the phases, anisotropic interfacial kinetics at the crystal-melt boundary, and density changes during the solidification is proposed. The evolution of a system is studied, in which, under given external conditions of heat transfer, a segregation inhomogeneity is developed in the matrix. Thermoelastic stress changes that arise as a result of solidification are analyzed with taking into account differences in the elastic and plastic properties of the matrix and the filaments. The presence of the filaments in the system leads to a nonuniform distribution of plastic deformation, and to porosity formation at the matrix-filament boundary.
