An interrelation between processing the surface of hard alloys with power ion beam, subsequent high-temperature oxidation and intensity of gas evolution under thermal stimulated desorption has been studied. The plates from the alloys VK8 and T14K8 were subjected to the study by the method of thermoprogrammed desorption. The results are presented on lathe cutting of the chromium-nickel steel Kh18N10T by cutters from the hard alloy VK8 and the tool steel Kh6VF by cutters from the hard alloy T14K8.
