Acoustic emission response to severe friction in deformation by cutting on metals and alloys

Аннотация

The features of waveform and median frequency acoustic emission (AE) signals obtained in deformation by cutting under severe friction between tool and samples have been analyzed experimentally. The samples were prepared from different materials, which provided different cutting regimes. It is established that the change in the conditions of deformation and fracture of the material leads to a significant changes in the AE median and central frequencies as well as in the AE signal amplitude rise and decay times. The AE amplitude portrait of plastic deformation shows notable rise and fall time periods as well as higher frequency level and longer median frequency fall time. Appearing micro and macrocracks corresponds to sharply increasing AE signal amplitude with almost zero rise time. The median frequency is less reduced and fall time is shorter.
