Abstract

Triggering of a spark discharger by ultraviolet laser radiation ( lambda equals 308 nm) transmitted through a light guide is studied. With formation of laser plasma on a tantalum cathode, the triggering delay is approximately 10 nsec with an instability of less than equivalent to 1 nsec.
