The scintigraphic diagnosis of inflammatory heart disease

Abstract

Comparative ability assessment of 99mTc-pyrophosphate and 99mTc-HMPAO-leucocytes scintigraphies in diagnostics of myocarditis and infectious endocarditis is carried out. We have included 49 patients in our study with suspected myocarditis (14 patients), with postmyocarditis cardiosclerosis (13 patients), with suspected infectious endocarditis (16 patients). The control group was presented by 11 patients with extra-cardiac inflammatory diseases. SPECT with 99mTc-HMPAO-leucocytes has visualized pathological fixation of radiopharmaceutical at 14 patients with myocarditis, at 13 patients with infectious endocarditis, and at 2 patients with postmyocarditis cardiosclerosis. In control group, we have only revealed extracardiac inflammatory focuses. The use of 99mTc-pyrophosphate allows visualizing accumulation of this indicator in both all patients with myocarditis an postmyocarditis cardiosclerosis, and at one patient of control group.
