Abstract

Introduction. The article investigates the problem of developing schoolchildren's motor skills. The aim of the research is to study the influence of Shor traditional games on developing motor skills in middle schoolchildren (grades between 5 to 9), taking into account their ethnic background. Materials and Methods. The research was carried out using the following methods: reviewing scholarly literature, obtaining data from respondents, control educational testing, educational experiment, and methods of mathematical statistics. Results. The authors have identified the list of games aimed at solving certain pedagogical problems. The study proves the positive impact of Shor traditional games on developing schoolchildren's motor skills. The findings indicate the significant physical fitness increase in the experimental and control groups. The greatest increase in physical fitness variables is observed in boys of the experimental group. The Shor schoolgirls of the experimental group enhanced such athletic skills as explosive leg power, speed, power endurance, general endurance, and flexibility. Conclusions. The article concludes that Shor traditional games have a significant positive impact on middle schoolchildren's motor skills development. Consequently, they can be considered as effective tools for achieving the main goal of physical education which is schoolchildren's holistic development.
