Abstract

A general model has been developed for the behavior of the gold during regional metamorphism, ultrametamorphism, and hydrothermal metasomatism. Regional metamorphism does not produce significant gold loss or gain in metamorphites under isochemical conditions. If interstitial solutions are active, there is merely local redistribution, with slight accumulation at the boundaries of the chlorite and biotite isograds. Metasomatism in metamorphic zones is accompanied by redistribution and accumulation (KAu 0.3-320), which provide the first stage in gold accumulation. -from Journal summary
