A pulsed electron accelerator having a current-pulse amplitude of up to 10 ka and a pulse length of 30 nsec is described. The energy of the electrons in the beam may be controlled smoothly from 200 to 550 kev. The structural peculiarities of the accelerator allow injection of a beam into a quasistationary magnetic field without introducing substantial distortions into the field.
