Abstract
The regularities of the formation and morphology of a nanostructured carbon product obtained by the decomposition of 1,2-dichloroethane on alloyed bulk catalysts Ni1 - xCrx (x = 1-10 at %) at 600°C are considered. The carbon fibers were found to possess a strongly marked segmented structure consisting of regularly alternating friable and dense graphite-like blocks. The proposed mechanism of growth is based on a self-oscillatory process, which is supposed to take place at the surface of the active particles formed as a result of the carbon erosion of a bulk Ni1 - xCrx alloy.
