Abstract
The conditions of oxidation of materials during their machining by electric pulse discharges in water are considered. It is shown that oxygen forming during the decomposition of water under the action of an electric discharge enters into reaction with the various materials present in the working system. The order of the reaction and the quantity of oxygen entering into reaction with these materials is determined by the oxidation enthalpy of the elements.
