Mechanisms for titanium nitride formation during burning in air of a mixture of coarse titanium powder and its dioxide with addition of aluminum powder, and formation of the phase composition of ceramic materials prepared by sintering combustion products in a hydrogen atmosphere, are considered. Material of the composition titanium nitride - corundum is prepared.
