Abstract
Results are presented of studies of higher order harmonics which appear during the operation of high voltage pulse devices at a low-ohmic load. It is shown that there is a distortion of the shape of the sine curve, and the voltage distortion often exceeds the allowable 5% limit. It is also demonstrated that the higher harmonics cause additional losses in the capacitors. To decrease the amplitude of the higher harmonics it is proposed that one use an L-C power filter tuned to the frequency of the third harmonic. This work is pertinent to solidspulverizing, emulsion and suspension treatment, manufacture gels and treat metals.
