Structure of 2D vortex in a layered high-Tc superconductor

Abstract

A solution corresponding to a 2D flux vortex with a core inside a single layer of a quasi-2D-superconductor is found. This vortex contains a small flux Φ≪Φ00 is the flux quantum) due to the screening by the current in adjacent layers. We explain the experimental data on the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless (BKT) transition in high-Tc superconductors as a result of the creation of these vortices.
