Abstract

Specimens of zirconium dioxide powder produced by HF-plasmachemical method from nitric acid solutions were used to study structure and physicochemical properties. Powders were stabilized with yttrium, magnesium, calcium and aluminium oxides. It was found that materials obtained consisted of hollow spheres and their fragments constituting films. Sphere size was revealed to correlate with grain structure. Modifying additives stabilized high temperature phases of zirconium dioxide, promoted new phase formation, affected grain structure and some properties, pycnometric density, in particular.
