Spontaneous Formation of Solitons in Resonantly Absorbing Two-Component Medium

Abstract

The process of spontaneous formation of solitons in a two-component resonantly absorbing medium is analyzed. The qualitative analysis shows that two types of soliton-like pulses, which have substantially different properties, can exist in such a medium The results of numerical simulation are compared with the known sine-Gordon and double sine-Gordon models, which are particular cases of the equations considered.
