Special features of phase formation in fireclay in the presence of topaz

Abstract

The processes of phase formation in fireclay in the presence of topaz-containing rocks were investigated. It is established that low contents of topaz (up to 0.5-1.0%) stimulates the formation of primary and secondary mullites of prismatic structure. It is shown that the topaz contents higher than 25% resulted in simultaneous formation of prismatic and needle-like mullite structures.
