The laws of high-temperature destruction of the typical rubber-like heat-shielding material in gas flow have been experimentally studied. Similarity of the processes of the high-temperature destruction of heat-shielding materials in gas flows and the erosive combustion of powders is shown. A new hypothesis about the mechanism of erosive powder combustion is proposed.
