Abstract

The mechanism of high-temperature destruction of a typical rubber-like thermal protective material in a gas flow is studied experimentally. It is shown that the high-temperature destruction of thermal protective materials in gas flows and erosion combustion of powders is similar. A new hypothesis on the mechanism of erosion combustion of powders is proposed.
