Abstract
Diffuse electron and X-ray scattering in the solid solutions is investigated on Mo-Re alloys (up to 40 at. % Re). A structure model is suggested and is described by means of the spectrum of waves of displacements which distort the b. c. c. lattice, resulting in the formation of local atomic configurations with a structure very similar to that of a sigma phase. The discussion concerns the common features of the effects observed in these alloys and in Hf-, Ti- and Zr-based alloys with a b. c. c. lattice, the structure of which may be due to short-range order of displacements.
