Sharp-focusing system for production of micrometer beams of high-energy ions

Abstract

A sharp-focusing system based on a set of four quadrupole lens is described. Each lens has a diameter of 176.5 mm, an aperture radius of 15 mm, and a geometric length of 184 mm. The total length of the focusing system is 990 mm. The system beams of H+ and He+ ions from an electrostatic accelerator with an energy of up to 2.5 MeV to a diameter of 10 μm.
