Abstract

This article concerns the effect of temperature and extent of deformation on the condition and size of austenite grains in high-speed steel R6M5 quenched from 1225-1230 degree C. The deformation was varied from 0 to 80%. With deformation near the critical, recrystallization in place leads to sudden austenite grain growth.
